How to use Pinterest to Help Your Designer Help You

Have you ever wondered what information your interior stylist needs to really know YOU? Read to learn how you can use Pinterest to Help pinpoint your design style.

Quarantine has gotten us all more familiar with our homes than we would like to be. As we sit and look around, many of us have found that we just don’t like what we see anymore and we want a change. So, we decide to give Designing Impressions a call and ask for a design consult with an expert. We begin feeling a little nervous because, to be honest, we know we don’t like what we see, but aside from that we aren’t sure what we want! While it’s easy to say what you don’t like, it can be challenging to hone in on what are the must-haves in your space.

Part of what makes your design style is not only the way you want a space to look, but also how you want it to feel.

Living in an ultra modern home may lose it’s shine when your kids are wiping their cute little lips all over your glass stair railing...so it probably goes without mentioning that practicality for your lifestyle also plays a role. Many of us know what we like when we see it, and that’s why following these basic steps to create a Pinterest board before your design consult can help you get your vision across to your designer.

STep 1

Nail down your personal style. If you’ve visited our blogs before, you may have come across a previous one about the basics of the most popular styles. If you haven’t, well, you’re missing out and now’s a great time to read it so you can check #1 off your list. It doesn’t have to be exact. It can be a more than one style. It is just a starting point for inspiration!

STEP 2

Search {insert design style} interior design on Pinterest. You can even specify which type of rooms you’d like to see {ex. Bedroom, office, family room, etc.}.

Step 3

Pin as many rooms that you feel have you represented in them. Keep an eye out for colors, textures, and materials that speak to you. Also keep in mind the items that are staying in your space.

Step 4

If you really want to get specific, you can search specific furniture or stores that you enjoy purchasing from and include any of those as pins on your board as well.

Step 5

Consider pinning paint colors that you are drawn to! If you aren’t sure where to start, you can search popular paint {color} and look through them.
