How to Overcome, or Sidestep, Homeowner’s Pride in Order to SELL YOUR LISTINGS

As realtors, you probably have clients that come to you in many phases of life looking to list their house. Something you also know is that most of them are going to be really proud of their house, no matter what, because at one point in time they picked it. So even if they are ready to move on, that strong emotion that led them to buy it, typically still is part of the equation.

Bearing that pride in mind, oh, what fun it is to have a conversation about what they need to do to get ready to list…am I right???

Oh, it is not your favorite conversation? I am shocked.

(Yes I am inserting some tongue-in-cheek humor here.)

In our conversations with Realtors just like you, we have found that outsourcing this conversation, no matter what, has made being a listing agent a more pleasant experience.

Why?

1.     Don’t have to have the difficult conversation

Instead get to say things like: “First step after you hire me is to meet with my professional stager to discuss the best way to present your house for sale. Then my Realty team and I will handle all of your photography and marketing needs. This is a proven strategy and has allowed us to have a 5 day/98% of ask track record.”

2.     Professional independence provides a layer of insulation.

What do we mean? Most homeowners are extremely receptive to our staging advice, but if they are not, our advice will not jeopardize your relationship with the homeowner (even if you would have given the same advice), because we are an outside professional service independent from you and your team.

3.     This is what we specialize in – so you don’t have to.

After helping hundreds of homeowners a year since 2004, we have perfected the art of changing the homeowner’s perspective to the point where they actually follow our recommendations. And violá, you the Realtor enjoy an easier listing to market. And we will let you do that part because we know that is where your expertise lies.
